The first BRIGHT Run was held in 2008 thanks to inspiration and encouragement from breast cancer patients at the Juravinski Cancer Centre. Those patients said they would support breast cancer research in the Hamilton/Niagara region beyond simply writing a cheque. If there was a local walk/run, they would be there.
Since 2008, more than $2.8 million has been raised and 15 innovative research projects have been funded. On the first Saturday after Labour Day, the Dundas Valley Conservation Area is magically transformed into a pink oasis of music, laughter, friendship and, yes, a few tears. Family, friends, neighbours, co-workers and breast cancer patients and survivors come together to support each other, share stories, celebrate success and remember.
The BRIGHT Run is a truly unique event that you have to see to understand and believe. The emotion cannot be expressed through words. 2017 is the 10th anniversary of the BRIGHT Run and they needed something to hand out to people to raise awareness and excitement for the event. BRIGHT Run attends many community events in the Summer including The Dundas Cactus Festival, The Concession Street Festival, The Winona Peach Festival and more. At these events they have a tent and sell raffle tickets but they needed something they could hand to people who were asking, “What is BRIGHT Run?”
Through FootPRINT Fund we helped design and produce an informational brochure that tells potential participants, donors and sponsors what the BRIGHT Run is, where it is and what it supports.
Nancy (BRIGHT Run Chair) had this to say about the FootPRINT Fund award they received, “The FootPRINT award acts as a professional hand up to not for profit organizations who, in some cases, are completely volunteer driven. While volunteers are passionate and give generously of their time and talents, their talents/expertise do not always align with the specific needs of the not for profit/charitable organization. The FootPRINT fund helps to fill the gaps, specifically relating to marketing products, strategy, and promotion. Working with the Allegra team, organizations come to realize where their own strengths are and how these can be expanded upon as well as receiving the benefit of help from experienced professionals.”
