The Oakville & Milton Humane Society (OMHS) provides a safe haven for animals in need, helping to rescue, reunite and re-home them. Established in 1936, OMHS is a Canadian Registered Charity funded by donations. Each year OMHS cares for more than 5,000 lost, abandoned, neglected, or homeless animals (both domestic and wildlife) from the towns of Oakville, Milton and surrounding areas, providing leadership in animal welfare to help build a compassionate community and a brighter future.
OMHS was looking to develop a Legacy Giving program to give individuals a way to make a lasting gift for the future of Oakville and Milton’s animals and the future of their community. Some people would like to make a significant gift to support the animals but feel it is beyond their current means. The new OMHS Legacy Giving program is a way to leave such a legacy without affecting an individual’s current income. Canada’s tax laws encourage donations to charities by providing tax credits to donors that reduce the amount of tax their estate will pay, thereby benefitting the family as well as the selected charity. Through FootPRINT Fund we were able to help OMHS design both a presentation folder and a set of 10 insert sheets to outline the entire Legacy Giving program.
