etailers who discount the influence of colour
on sales could be singing the blues. When
prospects first walk into your store, they make
a subconscious judgement about your retail
environment and its products within 90 seconds.
How much of that first impression is based on colour
alone? As much as 90%, according to researchers.
Seems it’s never been truer that you only get one
chance to make a good first impression. More than
half of shoppers say they won’t return to a store if
they don’t like its look or aesthetics. Further, a full
90% of purchasing decisions are based on visual
appearance, with 85% of consumers citing colour as
the primary reason why they purchase a product.

On every level from packaging to signage, colour
impacts your sales. Whether it’s a permanent sign
affixed to your building or a banner to announce a
special promotion, spending a few extra dollars for
colour printing makes good sense. Colour is a triple-
threat, improving comprehension (73%), learning
(55-68%) and readability (40%).
