Did you know?
Hamilton’s port lands have played a supporting
role in numerous film and television productions? Film production
is a billion dollar industry in Ontario, and the Port of Hamilton’s
industrial waterfront provides a unique backdrop. Some famous
dockland film scenes have featured Hamilton port locations,
including Cinderella Man starring Russell Crowe, Saint Ralph,
Clean with Nick Nolte and Four Brothers with Mark Wahlberg.
Before Collective Arts and Nickelbrook Brewing moved in to the
old Burlington St. brewery, the Netflix series Hemlock Grove
filmed several scenes in the old facility, a truly scary backdrop in
its pre-renovation state. And in 2015, the port provided settings
for the feature film, Shoot the Messenger.
Coming soon, a film premiere of our own:
Something’s Brewing
- How Beer Came Back to the Steel City
is a short documentary
series chronicling the rebirth of what is now the Arts & Science
brewery on Burlington Street. Stay tuned on social media for
release info.
We are celebrating the results of HPA’s fundraising initiative that included a pledge to match
